Thanks to the News

In May of 2014, a tornado hit Sutton, Nebraska. As we were looking at photos of the damage, we noticed a ghost sign in the downtown.  So, during a quick holiday visit back to the area, we made an even quicker side trip to the community for the capture.

And we weren't disappointed.  We found a couple other ghost signs as well, including these two, on the same building.

And for good measure, the named buildings below.

Lost to Time

We'd been eyeballing this discolored patch on the south side of the Turret Lofts for a while now, and finally stopped for a closer look, when our Western Field Agent, Mr. D.L. Hudson was in town.

Definitely something there.
And on the north side of the building: this.

Park Here, But Not Here

Not technically ghost signs, but nonetheless cool.

And we would expect nothing less from Union Terminal, which I think sufficiently impressed Mr. D.L. Hudson during his recent visit.
There's another sign on the south side of the tunnel, but we forgot to get that one.
Next time.

Powell Valves

Powell Valves, although featured here before, is still in business.

We'd seen these before from the Western Hills Viaduct, but upon the urging of Mr. D.L. Hudson, drove around to capture them.

Here Today

While our Western Field Agent, Mr. D.L. Hudson was in the city, we walked through Over-the-Rhine to show him some of our best ghost signs.

On Race, he pointed this out, and asked why we hadn't featured it yet.

It's not that old.  It's not that grand.  But, it is ghost signage, and he persuaded us to capture it.

We're glad he did, because someday, it will be gone.  Like this:

Doesn't look familiar?  This is what was here before they paved it and put up a parking lot, just south of Findlay Market.
Yes. We lost another.
