Chi-Town

Let's start with a favorite of our guide, Ms. J. Fiesta.

She is delighted by the "fresh cut-up chickens."

Not technically a ghost sign, as they are still operational.

Close to I-90.

And we'll end this entry in the East Village.

Sweet Home Chicago

Broadway Square

Lakeview, where we had breakfast.
After that, our guide, Ms. J. Fiesta took us to
Lincoln Park for the following treasures.

We feel confident one of the layered
signs was "Quaker" as in oats.

Not strictly a ghost sign, but
still faded ad art, and we respect
the Cafe Ba Ba Reeba! for it.

Sometimes zooming/getting closer
makes a sign more unreadable.

Another Cafe Ba Ba Reeba!, but also
a ghost sign above it!

"Children's"

Hello Chicago

If you click on the Chicago link in the column on the right, you'll
find our previous attempts at ghost sign hunting in Chicago.

Those efforts were, as you can see, unsatisfying.
Honestly, we were under the impression most of Chicago's ghost signs
were gone.

But, thanks to a guide with lots of local knowledge,
we found many, many more ghost signs across Chicago.

So, thanks to that guide, Ms. J. Fiesta, we are able to bring you
several entries in the coming weeks featuring the
ghost signs of Chicago.

Last of the Wisconsins

Our guide, pictured here, on this automotive ghost sign hunt, is Ms. J. Fiesta.

Why seemingly post the same shot twice?  In the first one, the distant ghost sign is visible better.
In the second photo, one can more clearly see the very faded ghost lettering in the upper
left hand corner.

Good bye, Milwaukee. And thank you.

A new category for us: politics.
Although one can argue this isn't a ghost sign because
the Republican Party is still going strong.
But as we would counter, the name of the blog is Faded Ad Art.
This particular sign is alongside I-94, just south of the Wisconsin-Illinois border,
and it's probably not long for the world, as all the trees around
it have been torn down.

Sunday Morning Milwaukee

We normally eschew ghost sign hunting from inside a vehicle
because you end up getting pictures like this.
(We apologize for the reflection, but note
the ghost signs further down the block.)

But we also don't recommend dragging other people along
on your hunt and inconveniencing them with frequent
stops when they have other goals in mind.

Somewhere in Milwaukee, south of the downtown.

More Milwaukee

Scattered around Downtown Milwuakee, some are old,

Some not so much.

I'd really like to see what this looked like when it was new.

Gonna guess it probably had something to do with beer.
