Technically, the Heringer sign may be a ghost, but since it's just a bunch of letters hanging on a wall, it's not that interesting.  The faded beyond readability artwork is much more engaging, I think.

Sunday, I got on my bicycle, and I rode into unfamiliar territory.

So, expect more ghost signs from Covington, and from Newport, like this one.

Another Nebraska Submission

 

Many thanks to Mick Johnson, childhood chum, who spotted this, recently uncovered by demolition in Aurora, Nebraska.  Very cool!

Messy, But Proof

 

No idea what this was.  However, it indicates that this:

 

... probably was a ghost sign too at one point, as they're both on the same building.

 

And and said building is across the street from this, if you want to see for yourself.

 

 

 

 

 

Recently Departed

 

This place can't be too long gone.  I used to buy smokes there.  So, sometime in the last 14-18 months, it went under.  Not all that surprising, but a tad bit regrettable.

When viewed small, I clearly see the word "CREAM", in the lower left hand corner.  Enlarging the photo seems to make that interpretation vanish.

 

This may be a repeat.

You should see the ButterKrust ghost sign on the south side of the building.   It's much worse.

Wegman's is still in business.  Just posting the chimney as a landmark.

Disappointed

 

By that, I mean, I'm disappointed with the number of ghost signs in Northside.  I feel like there should many more than there actually are.

It was a happy hunting weekend.  I pedaled up to Carthage, and found this, among others along the way.

Look Closer

 

We've featured the faded GARAGE sign before, and the Campanello's sign is relatively new, and still open, so that's not of interest here.  But, looking closer:

 

 

For a while, I thought it said "Quick Wash", instead of "Quick Cash".  I'd love to see what's behind the banner ad.

If there aren't dusty boxes of board games no-one's ever heard of inside, I would be very disappointed.

 

The buildings are for sale, if anyone's really curious.

 

Otherwise, there isn't much online about Todi's Toys, other than business address info, and a tip of the hat from Cincinnati Magazine, in 1983. (Which is an entertaining read in its own right.)

 

Festive Games didn't turn up anything immediate either.
