Why We Hunt Part II

The building at 13th and Walnut is undergoing renovations, reportedly for condos. They've already cut a whole in the wall, presumably for windows.

This is the north side of the building, and one has to wonder how much longer this German message has.

Not far away, on Liberty, between Walnut and Main, this sign has been covered up:

Here's what it used to look like.

Over by Findlay Market: Gone.

At Race and 12th: Gone.

On McMicken near Race: Gone.

On 15th, between Race and Elm: Gone.

And that is why we hunt ghost signs.

Why We Hunt

Because as long as these signs have been around, they're not impervious.

More signs lost to history tomorrow.

From the Road

Our Western Field Agent, Mr. D.L. Hudson becomes our Southern Field Agent this week, as he sends us these from Montgomery, Alabama.

He found a slew of ghost signs near Court and Jefferson, and over the next couple of days, we'll share them with you.

Going, Going...

Demolition started recently on the Dennison Hotel building.

Here's what it used to look like.

And on the north face:

Don't hesitate to capture a ghost sign. You don't know how long it's got.

Reader Submission

We were alerted to this recently uncovered gem by a Mr. D. Spencer.

It's on the north side of a building at Main and Central Parkway.
It's a mess, and we doubt it will be visible for long, so we're glad to have received the heads up!

Touched Up

Ms. D. Walz found these in Fort Collins, Colorado, and suggested they may be new.
The good folk at Ghost Signs say it has been touched up, and have the documents to prove it.

This one, however, is a mystery.
