On the Road

Dear Reader, we apologize for the lack of posts as of late, however, there has been a lack of new ghost signs in our view.

To remedy that, we took to the road, stopping in St. Joseph, Missouri.

We were not disappointed.

In fact, we were floored by the quantity and quality of ghost signs in St. Joe.

Bookmark this page again and brace yourself.
We believe you will be impressed over the next several days.

Revealed

In October 2017, a building in the 900 block of State Avenue started to fall apart.
It, and a neighbor were demolished, revealing this beauty.
You'll recognize the May, Stern names; they're so prevalent they have their own category among local ghost signs.

And this piece of artwork is signed.

Leaping to the southeast corner of Downtown and ahead to the late 20th Century, we find this ad for Grand Victoria Casino, nee Rising Star Casino.

It's usually covered by a vinyl beer ad.

Still in Northside

Pay no attention to the Merry sign.
We're looking at the sign hidden by a shorter building.

Even enlarged, it's hard to get a sense of this sign.

Northside

We've eyeballed this building for a while, with the hunch there was something there.

There's not much, but, it's visible now.

More from Lincoln

Along O Street.
This is an oddity. The sign looks ancient, but the building appears new-ish.

Again in the Haymarket. Two sides of the same building, above and below.
The former is a north face we hadn't caught before. The latter, (below), has been featured previously.

The Trip to Nebraska

We returned to Nebraska for the holidays, and picked up a few signs that we'd missed on previous visits.

This building is in Lincoln's Haymarket.

Specifically, it's at S and 8th.
