More Mail

Our ever-sharp eyed Western Field Office Operative, Mr. D. Hudson sent these from Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Gambles, as I recall, was a hardware-oriented department store chain in the upper Midwest.

Mr. Hudson was kind enough to send this capture from Google Street View as well, to aid in viewing:

Keep those emails coming!

Signs Everywhere

The American Sign Museum screened the film Sign Painters last night.
It's a documentary on sign painters.  Rather good.

But also on display was this recently rescued Rock City sign from a barn near Louisville.

More from the Mailbox

This gem of a layered ghost sign comes to us from Ms. E. Correll, on her recent trip to Peru, Indiana.

Starting at the top, we're going to hazard a guess that this started as a Mail Pouch tobacco sign, before it was covered by Jacob Opp's Saloon.

The big O at the bottom is anyone's guess.

Reader Submissions

These come to us from Ms. A. Skirtz, who found us through the recent media blitz.

We believe we have previously featured all of these in one shape or form, but her photos were
taken years before we moved to Cincinnati, so they're younger, fresher.

All are found within Over-the-Rhine.
Thank you, Ms. Skirtz!

We Made the News!

No, really.  We MADE the news.

In other news, we were a passenger on a trip through Westwood and Price Hill today, and saw three previously unnoticed signs.  We fully intend to capture and post them soon.

A Ghost Sign That Isn't

Frank's Place is closed.  But then, it was never open.
This storefront on Elm, just short of 9th, was a shooting location for a movie.

From Germany to China

Look closely and you can see that this Chinese restaurant used to be something German.
