Advertisements from yester-year and ghost signs around Cincinnati: If they're not fading away, they're covered up, or the buildings they're on are torn down.

Clearing House
Mass Effect
I find it very interesting that typically, the name of the business has faded, but the product is still visible in many of these.

How did I miss the Other Place?
It's above the Burger Chef, and just to the left of that 1972 Krody mural featured in the very first post.

Hidden by the Light
On Race Street, above what is now City Cellars...
There is a sign for a Ford Motor Service shop.
It's visible best when the sun is setting, for some reason.

Off the beaten track
In Over-the-Rhine, between Vine and Race, there's this:
And there's an interesting mix of abandoned, collapsing buildings worthy of the most desolate scenes cut from "Escape from New York", and, structures either in the process of rehabilitation, or fixed, and awaiting people. I think it was about 15th Street, around Republic.

Casino Royale
This building always reminds me of the Italian monasteries, I think properly termed "cassinos". The scene of plenty of hard fighting during WWII. Or so I've read.
Completely off topic...
Walking past this seemingly innoculous street sign the other night, I heard something from within.
There was a clockwork-y noise. There's no lights attached to the sign, and while there is a little door on one side, it was locked.
Walking past later, it was silent. What gives? What could possibly be in this triangular box, on a post? An automatic air freshener? A CIA monitoring device? A clock?

Monday, Monday
The start of the work week, and the first sign I really noticed when I moved to Cincinnati.
(With another faded one in the foreground.)

Super Sign Saturday Special! aka Sabado Gigante!

Case in point to previous entry.
Not easy to see here, but, in the background, after walking away from taking the previous entry's shot, I saw another one.

Overlooked
I pass by these signs so often, I don't even notice them. Case in point: 9th and Walnut. Walked by it several times before realizing it was staring at me. What did Poe say about hiding things?

Twoferone Friday
Fourth Street, between Race and Elm. From the Tower Place Parking Garage, which is in reality, a mobius strip.

Coincidentally
As I start this blog, I find that 5chw4r7z has posted a really good picture of a painted advertisement.
